Colin Marty enjoyed a perfectly respectable career as a government functionary in London. He scored a magnificent promotion as Queen Margaret’s secretary and served well in that lofty position. This all turned to ashes with the kidnapping and death of his wife while they were on a mission to Kabul for the queen.

Struggling to overcome his grief he eventually fell in love with and married the queen, who also grieved over the loss of her parents and sister during the London Blitz. Colin quickly settled into a life that was challenging and even idyllic at times. He and Margaret shared the joy of a newborn son and they plunged into the hard work of parenthood.
